History

Socio Economic Educational Society (SEEDS) was promoted in 1994 by a team of social activists hailing from the bottom strata of the society. The focus of its activities was to address the socio, economic, educational, health and human rights issues of the downtrodden, specially the dalit and women, in various districts of Tamilnadu.
SEEDS was registered under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975. It is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 and has registration under section 12A of Income Tax Act 1961.
SEEDS at present is managed by Ms.Amutha – who is the founder & Secretary, and has more than 15 years experience in social development field. The Organisation is actively involved in Madurai, Trichy and Namakkal districts of Tamilnadu. SEEDS has a resource team of academicians & activists - well versed in addressing various social issues, and a qualified staff team – committed to bring about participatory community development

 

Legal status of the organization:

1.Registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 and the registration number is 146/1994, dated 02 May, 1994.
2.Registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976. The registration number is 075940438, dated 21-03-2002.
3. Registration under Income Tax Act 12A and the PAN number is AACAS0418F.

Mission
Empowering the marginalized & the downtrodden section of the society, through group building, education & skill development and place them at the centre of decision making process.

Objectives:
• To form and promote collectives of abandoned women, as to ensure their due human rights, economic prosperity and to attain respectable social dignity.
• To bring about gender equality through education, skill development and non discriminate opportunities & access to both the sex.
• To protect the rights and livelihood base of the tribals & women, through legal provisions, viable enterprises and linkages with government and non government Agencies.
• To organize and undertake agriculture and allied enterprises in the form of value addition and marketing.
• To focus on the health & hygiene of rural communities through awareness programmes and installation of replicable models.
